From Anteaters and Terrapins in the NCAA tournament to Mainstreeters and Spuds at the Minnesota state tournaments, this time of year brings out the best in mascots.

Why complain about winter when there are parts of it to enjoy. Although a couple of these items also signal the end of winter in Minnesota.

My wife and I found the time to cram in a quick movie marathon over the weekend, watching Room and Bridge of Spies. No spoilers here.

The Oscar nominations were recently announced. Some people are whining because they haven't heard of many of the movies. There is a reason they are nominated. They are good.

It's been a pleasure covering Owatonna-area events for the website in 2015. And I have enjoyed sharing some personal happenings as well. Here are some fun ones from the year.  

Leftovers in your fridge are the source a late-night snack or a last-minute science project. But we found an award winner in ours.

I enjoy interviewing athletes and coaches. It felt a little different to be fielding the questions from Todd Walkingstick who hosts Beyond the Game on Owatonnalive.com.

I stood at the Twin Cities Marathon finish line in St. Paul on Sunday watching the 10-mile runners come in. My daughter was running and I wished I was out there with her.

I may never watch a preview of a movie or TV show again. Although I suppose I need to see at least one to determine whether I want to see the show. But that's it, just one.

Wind, rain, low humidity, high humidity, sun, clouds. Rarely has there been this much variety in the weather, or people in sweatshirts, during the Steele County Fair.
