Offense rules at this year's Minnesota state high school football tournament. Owatonna and Elk River, who will meet in Saturday's Class 5A Prep Bowl final, are good examples. The Huskies have outscored their two opponents by a combined 115-62. The Elks have pummeled their opponents 117-100 through the quarterfinals and semifinals.

Eight Owatonna football players were named to the Big Southeast All-District team, including the Offensive Player of the Year. Four others earned a spot on the honorable mention team. Junior Jason Williamson landed the top offensive honor for the Red Division after racing for nearly 2,000 yards.

Offense was on full display in Owatonna's 59-34 state tournament football victory Saturday night over Mahtomedi at Lakeville North High School. The win propels the Huskies back to U.S. Bank Stadium for the semifinals for the second straight year. OHS will face Brainerd Saturday, November 18 at 7PM.

Owatonna is back at the state tournament, along with five others from last year's field of teams. The Huskies beat Apple Valley before losing to eventual state champ Elk River is 2016. The Eagles and Elks are back.

Owatonna scored all the points they would need in the opening minute of the Section 1-5A football championship game at OHS Friday night. Abe Havelka tossed a screen pass to Noah Budach in the right flat and he sprinted up the sideline for a 55-yard touchdown to put the Huskies up 7-0 just 54 seconds into the game. Owatonna went on to a 37-0 win over Rochester Century to repeat as section champs.
