Medford swept past Grand Meadow in the subsection volleyball playoffs Thursday night. NRHEG dropped the first set to Waseca, but won the next three.

No. 3 seed Medford meets No. 2 Hayfield on Saturday at 2:30PM at the Mayo Civic Center. The other semifinal in 1A West Subsection play is top-rated Faribault BA against Lyle / Pacelli at 1PM on Power 96 Radio.

NRHEG, the No. 2 seed in the South Subsection of 2AA, plays Monday against No. 3 seed St. Peter at Mankato East High School about 7:30PM. The other semifinal is top seed Kenyon-Wanamingo and Tri-City United at 6PM on Power 96 Radio.

Blooming Prairie and Triton lost Thursday and were eliminated from the playoffs. The Awesome Blossoms lost 3-0 to Hayfield. BP ends their season at 9-16 for first-year head coach Ranell Kittleson. Seniors include Abby Wayne, Lauren Larkoski, Alyssa Krohnberg, Katelynn Grunklee and Hannah Ahrens.

Triton fell to top seed and No. 3-ranked Stewartville. Cobra seniors are Kayla Dostal, Haley Yankowiak, Ella Blaisdell, Vanessa Head, Claudia Hodgman, Brianna Stebbins, Candi Utech and Morgan Mealy. The coach is Rebecca Goossens.
