Top-ten rated Rochester Century eliminated Owatonna from the Section 1AA girls tennis tournament Thursday, but the Huskies made it close with a 4-3 loss. The Panthers move to Tuesday's semifinals. The overall season isn't quite over for Owatonna as the section individual tournament begins October 11.

At the Ev Berg cross country meet, the Owatonna runners finished seventh in both the girls and boys races. Carsyn Brady led the OHS girls with a fourth place overall finish. Preston Meier was the top Huskies finisher for the boys at 12th place.

The OHS boys soccer team held its Senior Night and found a way to get all 16 seniors into the match. After spotting Rochester JM a 2-0 lead, the Huskies roared back for an 8-2 victory, their 12th win of the year, tying a school-record for wins in a season. Senior Alex Beaver scored his first two goals of the year. Playoffs begin October 9.

Owatonna girls soccer slipped by the Rockets 1-0 on a goal from Kiley Friedrichs with the assist to Asia Buryska. OHS has a makeup game Saturday afternoon against Rochester Mayo to close out their regular season.

OHS girls swimming held their Senior Night Thursday. Northfield won the meet 96-84. Huskies volleyball dropped a 3-2 decision at Austin.

In local volleyball, Blooming Prairie beat Hayfield 3-2, NRHEG swept USC 3-0, WEM took Medford 3-0, Lake City edged Triton 3-2, Rochester JM handed Mankato West their first Big Nine loss 3-2 and Northfield stayed unbeaten in the league with a 3-0 sweep of Mayo.

Austin and Rochester Mayo boys soccer teams won their matches Thursday and will share the Big Nine championship. Mankato West had already wrapped up the girls title.
