Want To See A Hit Musical?

I plead guilty. I had no idea there was a hit musical based on the incident at Glensheen Mansion in Duluth. Most Minnesotans and probably many across the nation are familiar with the finding of the heiress Mrs. Congdon found dead in her bed. Her adopted daughter and husband were convicted many years later of her demise. And yet somehow this gruesome story has evolved into an Ivey award winning musical.

The Steele County Historical Society is offering a trip to the History Theater for a presentation of Glensheen which will be followed by a happy hour at Forepaugh's. The air-conditioned motor coach will depart the History Center at noon on July 26 and return around 8PM.

Tickets are on sale now at the Steele County History Center for $75 for members and $85 for non-members.

Here's a bit of trivia for you. The Glensheen Museum is looked upon as a mecca for old electrical historians because of its vast collection of old electrical plugs and outlets that were used in the late 19th and early 20th century. There wasn't an electrical standard until 1913 so a lot of companies made a lot of different types of plugs and outlets to use with electrical appliances. It wasn't easy matching them up in yesteryear.
