The ACM Award show opened with co-hosts Luke Bryan discussing his song with Dierks Bentley. My thought was as Bryan sings his song he would introduce Bentley as Blake Shelton. But instead Shelton taps Bentley on the shoulder and takes the mic and tricks Bryan. Good way to start the show.

Shelton then sings next and I thought my TV was broken because it went black and white with just his face in color. But that was the way it was suppose to be. It looked cool. Tim McGraw sang "Humble and Kind," which has such a good message. McGraw then brought in many people from all walks of life and brought them on stage. Pretty cool.

Eric Church "Record Year" was a tribute to the artists who have passed this year -- David Bowie, Glen Frey and others. I liked the song before and I like more now.

Miranda Lambert - Female Vocalist of the Year - sang "Tush" with one-third of ZZ Top and Keith Urban and that was really good.

Katy Perry was funny and did great previewing the song and movie "Coat of Many Colors" and then introducing Dolly Parton, who won the Tex Ritter Award. Parton and Perry then sang "Coat of Many Colors" -- sweet song and good movie. The two also sang Parton's "Jolene" and "9 to 5." They sounded pretty good.

The awards last night continued from last year for Chris Stapleton who won Song of the Year for "Nobody to Blame," Album of the Year for Traveller, Male Vocalist of the Year and, according to msn.com, New Male Vocalist of the Year.

Single Record of the Year went Thomas Rhett's "Die A Happy Man."

Little Big Town won Vocal Group of the Year. They were happy that Chris Stapleton was not a group. Little Big Town's performance on the show last night was very cool with Trombone Shorty.

It seems that they gave out some awards earlier because Kelsea Ballerni was introduced as the New Female Vocalist of the Year and Florida Georgia Line was introduced as Vocal Duo of the Year. That seemed different to me.

The Entertainer of the Year list included Lambert, Garth Brooks, Bryan, Church and Jason Aldean. I was a little surprised with Lambert and Brooks in the category that Aldean won.

It was a great show as always with a few camera glitches here and there. Just remember it's a live show. And it seems EVERYONE is responsible for Chris Stapleton's successful career, even the tall guy from Lady A.
