Two Titles, Top Ten Finish for Owatonna at Christmas Tournament
Owatonna's Cade King and Peyton Robb capped the ultra-competitive Minnesota Christmas Wrestling Tournament with championships to lead the Huskies to a top ten finish in the team standings. King and Robb each donned a Santa in the winners' circle along with the other champions.
King beat future Gopher wrestler Caden Steffen of Zumbrota-Mazeppa 5-4 in the finals to stay unbeaten on the season. King, top rated in Minnesota, had a pin, a technical fall and three decisions during the tournament.
Robb, also top ranked in the state and No. 4 in the nation, beat Jared Franek of Harwood, ND 7-4 in the title bout at 160 pounds. Robb had two pins, a tech fall and a pair of wins by decision. Robb has committed to South Dakota State. Franek will wrestle for North Dakota State.
The Huskies' Blake West took fourth place at 106 pounds and Landen Johnson was eighth at 126.
In the team standings, OHS move up from 13th after Friday to finish ninth. Coach Adam Woitalla said on Saturday's KRFO coaches show that a top ten finish was the goal. Anoka edged Simley for first place 175.5-175 points. Shakopee was third at 174.5. Apple Valley finished fourth with 168.5. Owatonna had 136 points and finished in front of powerhouse teams Kasson-Mantorville and Albert Lea. Section opponents Rochester Mayo and Farmington finished further back.

Westfield, the Blooming Prairie-Hayfield coop, finished 26th in the 39-team field. Colton Krell led the Razorbacks with a fourth place finish at 170 pounds. Morgan Moreno (195) and Mitchell Oswald (285) each finished seventh.
The Most Outstanding Wrestler Award went to Apple Valley's Gable Steveson, who won each of his five matches with first-period pins.
Elsewhere, Triton's Hunter Jennings won his weight class at the Trinity School at River Ridge tournament.
