A few months ago, the racing action at Chateau Raceway was in jeopardy. That has changed, along with the name. The new owners, Mark and Annette Wytaske, took ownership of the track on June 8th, and they are shooting for an opening night of July 15th. They have also changed the name back to Chateau Speedway, as a nod to the original name when the track was opened in 1956.

When I first heard the news that Chateau was most likely going to be closed for the whole season, I was quite disappointed,. That is the first dirt track I saw a race at, and I have some great memories of going to the races there. Yes, I was very excited to see that they are planning a season for 2018, even though it will be a shorter season. I can't wait to take my daughter there to see a race!

Hats off the Wytaskes on their hard work getting everything ready, and many many thanks to the volunteers who have been helping them. It looks like Chateau will be back on the circuit again, now if only we could see some races at the Steele County Fairgrounds. (I know, wishful thinking) You can follow their Facebook page for information about upcoming races.
