The Steele County Relay For Life begins at 6PM Friday, July 15, at the Steele County Fairgrounds. Cancer survivor and Green Bay Packer fan Alden Kruschke will make some comments about his victory over cancer. Luminaries will be on sale until 8PM with the luminary program and lighting of bags to take place around 8:50PM.

Walk ups are welcome Friday night. Donations may be in the form of cash, check or credit card. There will also be entertainment and a silent auction.

Saturday morning the Daikin Dash for Cancer 5k will begin at 8AM. Preregistration is $30 at the race site registration website. Saturday morning registration is $40.

Sunday there will be the Chains For A Cause, which is a disc golf tournament. This will be held at the Maiden Shade Disc Golf Course in Morristown. Registration is $25.

There will also be a Dad's Belgian Waffle Breakfast on Sunday from 8AM to noon at the Owatonna VFW.

This year's goal is $110,000. Some of the proceeds go for cancer research. Other money benefits Steele County residents. Last year there were two Steele County citizens who spent 195 nights in the Hope House in Rochester while receiving treatment. The patients' total bill for the overnight stays was $0. Money raised is also used in other ways to help cancer patients as well, including wigs and such.

Everyone is welcome to stop by the Steele County Fairgrounds Friday night and help out and support the fight against cancer.
