The Steele County Historical Society announces that they are now accepting nominations for their 2017 Preservation Awards. Two Steele County buildings or properties are recognized each year for their preservation and or restoration efforts.

Criteria for nomination includes the fact that the property should accurately reflect the architecture of the time it was built and be as close in its original detail as possible. You may nominate a home, business, farmstead or other rural property.

Past honorees include Kotte Jewelers, KIK Graphics, Jefts Hall, Lerberg's, Owatonna Public Utilities, First Baptist Church, Zamboni Building and the Alexander home among others.

Nominations need to be received by the Steele County Historical Society by April 1.The honorees will be announced during May, which is National Preservation month.
