“We are looking forward to Kim’s leadership experience with her management background in various nonprofit organizations,” Kaye Fransen, president of the Steele County Historical Society’s 15-member board of directors, said in a press release.

Purscell has worked with many regional nonprofit organizations, including the United Way of Faribault, Steele County Chapter of the American Red Cross, and the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism, serving as executive director or interim director at all of these organizations. Purscell also has had management experience in the business world through her ownership of Technology Navigators Inc. with her husband, David.

“I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my life. I feel the experiences that I have had over the years will position me well to help the Society continue its growth. I can hardly wait to start,” Purscell said in the statement. “It will be nice to be back working in the community I have called home for more than 20 years.”

Purscell begins her Historical Society duties soon. The Historical Society, at 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10AM to 4PM, Thursdays from 10AM to 8PM, and Saturdays from 10AM to 3PM.
