Steele County Blades Players Stay Busy On and Off the Ice

Members of the Steele County Blades junior hockey team spent some of their recent time off serving the community. The team is looking for additional opportunities to do more.

Blades players worked with students at Washington Elementary on November 3 during the day and served guests at the Holiday wine tasting benefit for Youth 1st of Owatonna that evening. Players make weekly elementary school visits. The team is looking for more opportunities to volunteer in the community. Steele County hosts Chicago in games Friday and Saturday, November 11-12, at 7:30PM at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna. The Cougars beat the Blades in four regular season games last season and topped Steele County twice more in the playoffs. Solari indicated that Chicago was a very fast team last season.

This week's player profile interviews include Erik Colstrup (Ellendale) who has skated with the Blades in previous seasons and joins his brother Soren on the team. Kyle Wadden (Des Moines, Iowa) is a first-year junior player who has made a quick impact with eight goals and three assists to average one point per game.
