The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings continued their strong start to the junior hockey season with a pair of wins over the Steele County Blades.

The Blades jumped out to 2-0 lead Friday in the first period at Wisconsin Rapids on goals by Oskari Valli and Soren Colstrup. The Riverkings tied the game with a pair of second-period goals and broke the game open with four in the third for the 6-2 victory. Wisconsin Rapids (12-1-1) converted three of their nine power play chances and outshot the Blades 39-29.

In Saturday's rematch, the Riverkings won 6-1. They roared ahead with a five-goal second period. The Blades' Kyle Wadden notched a goal late in the second. Wisconsin Rapids outshot Steele County 31-26.

The Blades (6-3-1) did not score on any of their 11 power play chances over the weekend. Steele County plays at River Falls on Saturday, November 5. Their next home games are November 11-12 against Chicago at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna.

Wisconsin Rapids leads the Elite League Midwest Division standings.
