The Steele Community Gardening Association announces that garden plots for the upcoming growing season are now available for rent. There are 30 plots, with each one measuring 20-feet-by-20-feet. Rent for the season is $30. The plots are near Riverland College on Alexander Drive in Owatonna and will be available from late April until around October 15 depending on the length of the growing season.

You can learn more by attending an organizational meeting on Monday, April 18, from 6-8PM at the Steele County Community Center on the Fairgrounds. You will be able to sign up for your plot that night. There will be a special guest speaker that night. Dr. Charlie Rohwers, who is a research scientist at the Southern Research and Outreach Center in Waseca, will be the guest speaker. Rohwers has several horticulture degrees and studies vegetables, among other crops, at the Outreach Center.

Those who can't make the meeting may sign up for a plot at the Steele County Extension Office or call (507) 444-7686.
