After our first major snow event earlier in the week, it looks as though 2015 will go out quietly weather-wise and 2016 will come in the same way. According to the National Weather Service for the Faribault area, no precipitation is expected through Wednesday and near normal temperatures.

Compared to last year when we were going through a bit of a deep freeze, this is going to be pretty good.

With some sun and temperatures in the 20s during the day, it will help clean up the roads a bit. And the people who have been dealing with some difficult travel conditions will get a bit of a break.

There will be the temptation for those still home for the holidays and others that love to ice fish, to give it a try. Many area lakes still not quite there yet, and we don't want you to be a statistic and we don't want you to put emergency personnel in danger either. Check with area bait shops to find out if the lake you want to go on is safe. You can get safe ice guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. Be safe and Happy New Year!
