Owatonna High School volleyball opened up its home schedule with a sweep of Red Wing on Thursday. Huskies soccer played Rochester Mayo and ended up with a tie and loss.

OHS volleyball played its first Big Nine conference match, and scored a three-sets-to-none win over Red Wing. Scores were 25-21, 25-14 and 25-19. The Huskies are 1-1 overall. They play at the Marshall tournament Friday and Saturday, opening up with Perham. The Huskies could play Prior Lake on Friday night. The Lakers swept Owatonna in a season-opening match two weeks ago.

Huskies boys soccer played Rochester Mayo to a 1-1 draw. The Spartans girls blanked Owatonna 3-0.

In other local volleyball, Medford swept Blooming Prairie 3-0. That's the third time the Tigers have defeated BP this season. NRHEG scored a 3-0 win over Maple River. Pine Island topped Triton 3-1.

In Big Nine volleyball, defending conference and section champion Rochester Mayo blanked Faribault 3-0, Century swept Mankato East 3-0, Albert Lea topped Austin 3-1 and Northfield outlasted Winona 3-2.
