Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota will have their annual Bowl for Kids' Sake this weekend. You can bowl at J & J in Faribault on Friday, April 15, from 5-8PM or Saturday, April 16, from 9AM to 2PM at Sparetime in Owatonna.

Go to Big Brothers/Big Sisters website to obtain pledge forms and information.

Bowl for Kids' Sake is a national event. There are 313 chapters of Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Executive Director Michelle Redman points out that the local chapter is one of just a few that get all the bowling donated by the local alleys, Sparetime and J & J.

The local chapter serves Steele, Rice, Waseca and Dodge counties and they are in the midst of their Man Up Minnesota campaign. As has been often the case, there is always a need for male volunteers. Currently there are 133 kids on the waiting list and 70 percent of them are boys. The average wait for a boy to get a Big mentor is 453 days. Only 1 in 4 volunteers are males. Men are encouraged to contact Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota to find out more.
