South Central College President Dr. Annette Parker told KDHL AM Minnesota listeners she was happy to hear the President propose free education for the first two years of a community college education.  Dr. Parker was on the program Thursday and noted there are obviously details to be worked out. Mainly in the area of how the proposal would be funded. She hopes President Obama will reveal more specifics about his proposal during his State of the Union address next week.   The South Central College President says the idea has a big hurdle to overcome in Congressional approval and said an educated workforce is essential to get American ingenuity and manufacturing humming again.  Dr. Parker was appointed by President Obama to a National Task Force on Manufacturing in 2013 and told KDHL the panel did not include what the President is proposing in their recommendations last October.
