Section Wrestling Pairings Announced; Owatonna Opens at Home Thursday

The high school wrestling section team tournaments get underway this week. Owatonna will host Rochester Mayo on Thursday at 6PM at the OHS gym and on KRFO AM 1390.

As expected, Owatonna earned the second seed in Section 1AAA. Defending champ Farmington got the top seed and will face the winner of the pigtail match between Austin and Rochester Century. Lakeville South goes to Rochester JM in the fourth versus fifth seed dual.

Owatonna beat Mayo early in the season 43-27. Faribault whipped Northfield 49-15 this season. If those results are repeated, Owatonna and Faribault will square off in the semifinals Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester at 1PM. The Huskies just beat the Falcons 44-18 on Friday. The final is Saturday at 3PM.

Section individuals are February 19-20.
