A early New Year's morning barn fire in Rosemount killed some chickens, but there were no other injuries.  Rosemount and Hastings departments were first on the scene at the Fox Family Farm on 160th St. East. The first call came in just after 2am.

Fire departments from Inver Grove Heights, Randolph/Hampton and Miesville  also assisted at the scene.

An explosion at the Northrup Grain Elevator on Thursday, re-ignited on Friday and crews were on the scene through Sunday. According to KSTP, the explosion blew the top off the building, and debris damaged nearby houses, businesses and vehicles. A few people sustained minor injuries.

Crews put out the fire and started tearing down the building on Sunday. Personnel from 54 fire departments, including six from Iowa, helped battle the blaze.

Authorities are still trying to find out was caused the initial explosion.
