Riverland College will be offering a new Medical Assistant program at its Owatonna campus starting in January. The duties for this high demand job include tasks such as drawing blood, administering shots, taking vitals and keeping records. This is a certificate program which starts in January and runs two semesters. You could be working by next fall.

A quick Google search showed the average pay for a Medical Assistant across the U.S. was $17 an hour. So you probably won't get rich but you can be working soon. Hours for MA's are usually an 8-5PM shift on weekdays which might be attractive to some.

Quite a few of the Medical Assistant grads from the Austin campus have jobs lined up before finishing the program.
