Just South of Owatonna, at Monte and Nancy Mowry's Lazy Meadows, there will be more than one session of therapeutic horseback riding available. "Ride for the Brand" Americans with Disabilities started in Owatonna in 2015 and has seen more and more people signing up to be part of this program.

Horseback riding can help improve balance and coordination, and being outside a clinical setting can help lower stress and build confidence. The horses that are used are owned locally, and the owners share their time and expertise with animals, as well as their love.

The first session details are:

  • June 14th 6:30-7:30
  • June 21st 6:30-7:30
  • June 28th 6:30-7:30

The second session is:

  • July 12th 6:30-7:30
  • July 19th 6:30-7:30
  • July 26th 6:30-7:30

There will be a round-up on Thursday, August 2nd, for all participants, with awards, and fun activities. For more information, or to get registered, check out their website here.

They are looking for volunteers as well, and you don't have to know anything about horses to help out. Contact Monte for more information. I volunteered last year with my daughter, and we had a blast.
