The 12th annual Strive Wellness run/walk event is Saturday, Aug. 22 during the Steele County Fair. The event is adding a 2-mile fitness walk this year.

Registration is open for the annual event, which raises money for the Owatonna Rotary Strive program. Go online to to sign up. The fee is $25 through Aug. 19 and $30 on the day of the race. Participants receive a dry-fit t-shirt. Medals are awarded to the top three finishers in each age category.

The Strive Wellness run/walk includes a 4-mile run through residential streets of Owatonna. Kids 400-meter and 800-meter runs take place on the Owatonna High School track. New in 2015 is a 2-mile fitness walk. The course is certified and chip-timed. It is a very flat course and begins and ends at Owatonna High School.

The schedule for Saturday, Aug. 22:

  • 7:30AM: race day registration/packet pick-up
  • 8:15AM: kids 400M / 800M run (must be 12 or younger)
  • 9AM: 4-mile run / 2-mile walk

The event is presented in a partnership between the Owatonna Rotary Club, Owatonna public schools, Steele County Free Fair and Owatonna Hospital, part of Allina Health.
