The Country Music Awards started with a bit about the Star Wars bit being canceled, and it ended with Luke Bryan as Garth Vader -- he was suppose to be Luke. Brad Paisley was able to "show off" all his Star Wars memorabilia. Another moment was when Paisley and Carrie Underwood were talking on stage and a Storm Trooper came out. Paisley was talking about being a huge Star Wars fan. Underwood takes off the helmet and it is actually William Shatner. Paisley quickly adds "next to Star Trek."

Of course, their songs, I mean monologue, was pretty good.

Hank Williams and Eric Church opened the show musically and that rolled into a John Mellencamp and Keith Urban duet, then Urban sang his "John Deere, John Cougar, John 3:16." Later in the show, Thomas Rhett sang with Fall Out Boy.

The Single and Song of the Year both went to Little Big Town's "Girl Crush."

Little Big Town also won Vocal Group of the Year.

Chris Stapleton was the big winner last night more ways than three. He won New Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Traveller), and Male Vocalist of the Year. Justin Timberlake sang two songs with Stapleton, and it was by far the best performance of the night. Miranda Lambert even commented that she is going to go home and practice.

When Stapleton won Male Vocalist, he was thanking everyone from his mom, wife, sister, cousin's in Kentucky, and six people in the basement when he was first starting out.

Duo of the Year went to Florida Georgia Line. It was their third time winning the Duo Award.

Female Vocalist of the Year went to Miranda Lambert, it was her sixth time winning. She now has some pink hair to go with her pink guitar. She performed "Bathroom Sink," which was a good tune. She got her bright spot this year.

Luke Bryan was the big winner of the evening with the Entertainer of the Year.

Just some fun stuff, I think Carrie Underwood changed into at least eight different dresses and Brad Paisley had maybe changed his jacket six times. I wish they would make more colors than black.

When Zac Brown Band sang, the light show behind him reminded me of a tunnel. Brad Paisley sang "Country Nation." Besides some of the college mascots, it turns out there is even a mascot of Brad Paisley.

It was a great show and a lot of great performances. By the way, AMAs will be on Sunday, Nov. 22, and CMAs Country Christmas will be in early December.
