Can you name a book that tripped your trigger when you were real young? A book that got you hooked on reading? I sure can. In the little country school where I learned to read I stumbled upon books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I was hooked. In fact I was quite anxious to be promoted to 4th grade so I could invade the library in the upper grade room. It was good, as I found even more books by Wilder.

This Saturday, February 3 the Kiwanis Club of Owatonna will present their Read Around The World for pre-school to third graders at the Owatonna Public Library. Hours will be 10-11:30AM. Area celebrities will read a book to the kids and explain how reading helps them on the job. It's a free event and each child will receive a book to take home. There will also be milk and cookies.

This years reads are: Owatonna Head Librarian Mark Blando, Steele County Sheriff, Lon Thiele, Rilee Schmidt who is president of the OHS Key Club, Mary Hawkins, Lincoln Elementary school Principal along with Jim Steinlicht, president of the Owatonna Kiwanis Club and Darla Lager, the Owatonna Librarie's children's librarian.

Bring the kids by and get them started on a lifelong path of reading.
