The public is invited to attend a Promoting Peace Conference scheduled for two local locations next week. The first one will be Thursday, September 29, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Owatonna and the other one will be Friday, September 30, at Starfire Event Center in Waseca. Hours will be 8-5PM at both conferences.

A panel of experts will discuss topics relating to violence and how to foster peace.

Speakers include Renita Robinson, who is the former executive director of CADA. CADA provides safety and support to victims of domestic violence.

Psychologist Mindy Mitnick will discuss how to ask reliable questions and what to ask to learn about children's diverse experiences witnessing physical or psychological aspects of partner abuse.

There will be a county attorney who will address the topic of "what happens after the child protection report."

Arne Graff of the Mayo Clinic Child and Family Advocacy Center will discuss how to recognize and assess physical injuries in children.

Kate Swanson, a trauma-informed therapist at Fernbrook Family Center, will talk on how to reduce the impact of ACEs, or adverse childhood experiences, and building resiliency.
