Owatonna High School wrestling earned a big section win Thursday. Huskies hockey swept Mankato West. Owatonna basketball split games with Mankato East.

Owatonna's wrestlers beat Lakeville South 42-27 in a big match for seeding purposes in Section 1AAA. Back and forth through the first half of the meet, the Huskies went ahead to stay thanks to an enormous win by pin by senior Mike Thom. Other pins came from Jerez Autridge, Dillon Sheehy, Griffin Thorn, Brandon Moen and Austin Abbas. The Huskies host a quad Friday with St. Michael-Albertville, Mankato East and Rochester Century. Action begins at 5PM.

OHS boys hockey won its fifth straight Big Nine game although their shutout streak ended in a 3-2 victory over Mankato East at Four Seasons in Owatonna. Noah Scheid scored with one second left in the first period and added another early in the third after Mankato West had taken a 2-1 lead into the second intermission locker room. Sam Hylle notched the game-winner on the power play fair late in the third period. Ryan Johnson earned the win between the pipes. The Huskies host Rochester JM on Saturday at 3PM.

The Huskies' girls hockey team edged Mankato West 1-0 on Margo Achterkirch's goal midway through the third period. Jenna Bogen and Shannon VanReeth assisted. Laura Ebeling got the win in goal. The Huskies host Winona on Thursday, January 28, and close the regular season at Faribault on Saturday, January 30.

Owatonna's boys basketball team dropped a 57-41 game to Mankato East, who scored a season sweep. Mason Thein led OHS with 10 points. Eli Havelka had nine points and eight rebounds. The Huskies host Mankato West on Tuesday.

The Owatonna girls basketball team topped Mankato East 59-45 for their fifth win in six games. OHS plays at Mankato West on Tuesday on Kat Kountry 105FM.
