The annual Power of the Purse fundraiser raises money for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. The Foundation mails an age-appropriate book to each enrolled child every month from the time they are born until they reach age 5. Steele County has 1,200 children receiving books monthly. There are also more than 500 children who have graduated out of the program since they have reached age 5. Think of the excitement of getting mail when you were that age.

This year's fourth annual event featured more than 130 women from Steele County gathering to raise funds. A record-breaking $27,861 was raised. The event featured a silent auction, live auction, ticket sales, wall of wine along with a purse tree and sponsorships.

The Imagination Library program is open to any child in Steele County. You can learn more about the program by going to the Steele County United Way website. You may also call (507) 455-1180 to learn more.
