Owatonna Wrestlers Land Fourth Seed, Will Face Hastings at State

Brackets for the team competition at the state wrestling tournament were announced Wednesday. OHS got the fourth seed and will face fifth seed Hastings on Thursday, March 2.

The Huskies (25-5) beat the Raiders (31-7) during the Blooming Kennedy tournament 36-23 on January 28. Hastings won the Section 1 title in 2014 before moving to Section 3. The Raiders went to state last year as well, losing to Apple Valley in the quarterfinals. Hastings rebounded to win the consolation bracket. Owatonna's most recent state appearance was 2013.

Owatonna and Hastings will wrestle at 9AM in the Class AAA quarterfinals on Thursday, March 2, at Xcel Energy Center. The winner is likely to meet top seed and defending champion Apple Valley in the semifinals. The Eagles open with Minnetonka. The state tournament is a one-day event for team competition. The state individual tournament follows on March 3-4. That field of wrestlers will be determined with section tournaments this weekend. Owatonna will be at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester on Friday and Saturday with reports and action live on KRFO AM 1390.
