The Owatonna Walk to End Alzheimer's will take place on Sunday, September 18, at Mineral Springs Park. Registration begins at 9AM with the opening ceremony at 10AM followed by the walk. You may choose the 1-mile or 3-mile route. The walk begins at the Mineral Springs Shelter and goes to Dartt's Park and back.

This year there will be a photo booth along with balloon animals, music, a promise flower garden and drawings for prizes along with food. There will be a blessing of the shoes as well. A light lunch will be served after the walk.

It's estimated there are about 91,000 Minnesotans suffering from Alzheimer's. If it stays at this pace it's thought that more than 120,000 will be afflicted with this disease by 2025.

This year's goal is $58,000 with a total of 22 teams and 140-150 walkers registered.

You can learn more about Alzheimer's and the walk by going to the National Alzheimer's website.
