The Huskies hit the road Thursday to play at Prior Lake. They do not know where or when they will have their home opener after water damaged the Owatonna High School gym floor early in August.

The season opener versus the No. 2AAA Lakers was supposed to be played in Owatonna but was shifted to Prior Lake and starts at 7PM. The Lakers swept OHS to open last season and went to finish as the state runner-up behind Eagan.

Friday the Huskies to go Farmington for a 7PM match that can be heard on Kat Kountry 105FM. Owatonna outlasted the Tigers 3-2 in the section tournament last season. The Huskies' Big Nine opener with Albert Lea has been switched to a road match on September 8. Officials are still determining how to handle the other home dates.

The Huskies graduated seniors Carli Langeland, Karissa Hilstad and Elise Oppegard off last year's squad, which went 18-12 overall and 8-3 in the conference. OHS is a senior-dominated team this year, according to the Minnesota State High School League. Seniors include Samantha Mundale, Tori Urch, Karissa Gregory, Erin Steffenson, Madie Kubista, Riley Birk, Tate Peterson, Lexi Langeland and Devin Miller. The roster includes juniors Sydney Schultz and Olivia Spatenka.

Schultz was second on the team in kills in 2015. Gregory added a solid total as well. Spatenka led the team in digs. Jason Kaytor returns for his eighth year as head coach.
