Owatonna Volleyball Gets Seventh Seed and will Face Albert Lea Wednesday
Owatonna gets the chance to pay back Albert Lea when the teams meet in the Section 1AAA first round Wednesday in Medford. The Tigers beat OHS 3-2 on September 8.
The Huskies (13-15) earned the seventh seed at Sunday's coach's meeting and will square off with Albert Lea (8-13) Wednesday at 7PM at Medford High School. Radio coverage will be on KRFO AM 1390. The winner goes to Big Nine champion Rochester Century on Friday at 7PM.
Other first-round matches include Winona at Rochester John Marshall, Austin at Farmington and Faribault at Rochester Mayo. The top four seeds are Lakeville South, Century, Lakeville North and Northfield. Quarterfinals are Friday, October 28. Semifinals are November 3. The section title match is November 5 at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.
Blooming Prairie opens the 1A West Subsection volleyball playoffs Monday night at 7:30PM at home against LeRoy-Ostrander. The Awesome Blossoms beat the Cardinals during a tournament earlier this season. The winner plays at No. 2 seed Hayfield on Thursday. Medford is the No. 3 seed and will host the winner of Lyle and Glenville-Emmons. Bethlehem Academy, the 2015 state runner-up, is the top seed in the subsection.
NRHEG opens the playoffs in Section 2AA South on Thursday at third seed Blue Earth Area. The Panthers are the sixth seed. Top-ranked Kenyon-Wanamingo is the top seed.
Triton begins the playoffs Thursday in Section 1AA West at the top seed Stewartville.
