Owatonna High School teams will compete in various area codes over the holiday break, none of which is 507. OHS girls hockey begins a three-day tournament in Blaine Wednesday. Huskies girls basketball heads to Buffalo for a two-day event starting Thursday. Owatonna's boys basketball goes to Hibbing while the boys hockey team heads to Duluth for three straight days of competition. The wrestlers will be at the massive Rumble on the Red Friday and Saturday in Fargo.

OHS girls hockey has played in the Schwan Cup for several years. They face Cap City Wednesday at 2:30 pm. Possible game times on Thursday are 12:30 and 5:30 pm. All games are at the Super Rink in Blaine, except the title game for the bracket, which is at Ridder Arena at the University of Minnesota Friday at 12:30 pm.

The Owatonna boys basketball program hosted the Federated Tournament for many years, but coach Josh Williams said on Saturday's KRFO Coaches Show that it's become more difficult to attract teams in recent years. OHS will take a road trip up north to play in Kevin McHale's hometown of Hibbing against Duluth East. The Huskies have a connection with the Greyhounds, who are coached by former Owatonna assistant Rhett McDonald.

Thursday's game is at 4:30. Friday's possible times are 2 or 5:30 pm. The tournament concludes Saturday. Other teams in the field include Cambridge-Isanti, Grand Rapids, Andover and Chanhassen.

Huskies' boys' hockey has made the trek to Duluth as an annual event to play in the Heritage Classic. Participating teams include Duluth Denfeld, Apple Valley, Mankato West, Irondale, Roseville and North St. Paul, who the Huskies just beat last Saturday 9-3.

Owatonna girls' basketball has a set schedule of playing Tartan Thursday in Buffalo, then facing the home team on Friday afternoon.

OHS wrestling squad goes to Fargo for the Rumble on the Red, an enormous tournament featuring many ranked competitors. The Huskies recently had a strong showing at the Minnesota Christmas Tournament with a seventh place finish, their best-ever at that event. They will compete in The Clash the first weekend in January as well.
