Even though we got more than 7 inches of snow yesterday, and there were school closings all over the Southern part of the state, we are almost to track season for Special Olympics.

Track practices are scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 10th, at 5:30 pm. Practice will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7 pm at the Medford High School track, a change from last year when practice was at the Owatonna High School.

The area meet is scheduled for Saturday, May 5th, at John Marshall High School in Rochester, and State Games are June 22-24 at University of St. Thomas in St. Paul.

If you are interested in getting involved with Special Olympics, you can reach out to Roy Koenig at voiceofohs@yahoo.com. Or you can go the the Special Olympics MN website to see how to get registered. Special Olympics is not just for the athletes, they need volunteers to help coach, run the competitions, as well as compete in the Unified Partner programs. Owatonna can always use more coaches and Unified Partners.
