For the first time since 2010 the Huskies have a win over Mankato East in fast-pitch softball. Owatonna High School rallied for a 6-5 victory in a cold, wind-driven rain to split the action at Morehouse Park.

Game 2: Owatonna 6, Mankato East 5

The Huskies rallied from a 4-0 deficit to win the second game of a doubleheader 6-5 with a winning rally in the bottom of the seventh inning. Abby Bendorff singled to lead off. Riley Sheehy followed with an infield single. Ellie Rohman laid down a sacrifice bunt. Bendorff dashed home on a wild pitch to close out the game and send everyone to their warm, dry cars.

Trailing by four runs after two-and-a-half innings, Kirsten Pumper doubled home two in the home half of the third. She added another RBI on a ground out in a two-run fifth inning. Two additional runs in that inning came by way of Cougar errors.

Alexa Somers pitched the second game for her second win of the season.

Owatonna's last win over the Cougars was 2-1 in 2010.

Game 1: Mankato East 16, Owatonna 5, six innings

Mankato East grabbed control early in the opener with a six-run second inning, erasing a 2-1 OHS lead. The Huskies repeatedly threatened and had at least one base hit in five of the six innings. East out-hit Owatonna 16-10 and had seven walks. Each team stranded nine base runners.

Rohman had three hits in the opening game. Jamie Davison hit a run scoring triple.

The Huskies are 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the Big Nine. Owatonna will host Red Wing Tuesday at 5PM at Morehouse Park. The Huskies beat the Wingers in the first round of the section playoffs last year.
