Owatonna Softball, Lacrosse, Tennis Roll to Victories

Monday turned into a busy day on the Owatonna High School sports calendar thanks to several makeup events. It was also a good day as the lacrosse teams swept a doubleheader at OHS and the softball and boys' tennis teams won shutouts.

Girls' fast pitch softball blanked Red Wing 10-0 in five innings in a makeup game. Kaitlyn Madole, who had three hits in Saturday's third place game at the Shakopee Tournament, had three hits versus the Wingers and drove in a run. Alexa Sommers tossed the complete game. OHS plays at Rochester Century Tuesday at 5 pm with coverage on Kat Kountry 105FM.

Owatonna girls' lacrosse beat Mankato 10-4 in a battle of the last two, and only two, Big Nine Conference champs. OHS scored six straight goals for the win after Mankato had tied the game at 4-4. Skylar Eaton and Cassie Bremer each scored three goals. The Huskies play at Rochester John Marshall Wednesday at 7:15 pm with the action on KRFO AM 1390.

The Owatonna boys' lacrosse squad dominated John Marshall 19-5 Monday night with six different players notching goals. Josh Nelson led the attack with four goals. OHS is off until Saturday when they host Brainerd at 4:30.

The Huskies' boys' tennis team swept Winona 7-0 in a makeup meet Monday to improve to 6-2 on the season and 4-1 in the Big Nine. Owatonna plays at Lakeville North Wednesday. OHS girls' golf shot 481 at Chaska Monday and plays in Rochester Tuesday.

In area baseball, NRHEG split a doubleheader with USC, dropping the first game 7-3 and winning the second 3-2. Medford built an early lead and beat Bethlehem Academy 19-11. Triton earned a twin bill sweep at Kenyon-Wanamingo 2-1 and 5-1 to improve to 5-1 on the season.

In regional softball, Maple River shutout Blooming Prairie 7-0, Pine Island edged Triton 5-4 and Faribault Bethlehem Academy handed Medford a 9-2 loss.
