The Owatonna MainStreet program under the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning to celebrate becoming a National Register Historic District.

The timing for this was great as this Saturday, May 16, is "Be a Tourist in Owatonna Day." Stop at the Chamber and pick up your passport and get it stamped as you visit Owatonna attractions.

This Saturday's highlights include Historic Downtown Owatonna Walking Tours being offered at 9AM, 10:30AM and 12:30PM. Contact the Chamber for reservations. There will also be guided tours of the National Farmers' Bank (Wells Fargo). Contact the Chamber for details on this as well.

The Orphanage Museum will be offering tours from 1-4PM. They not only include Cottage 11 but the 1895 root cellar also will be open.

The St. Paul Saints take on the Owatonna Aces in a baseball game at Dartts Park. Gates open at noon and the game begins at 3PM. Tickets are on sale at the Park and Rec office.

The Village of Yesteryear invites you to stop by Saturday for their Vintage and Plant Sale from 9Am to 2PM.

Cap off the evening by enjoying the movie "Casablanca" at 8PM. It will be shown at the site of the former State Theater.
