The Owatonna High School music department presented their annual holiday concert Thursday featuring the carolers, symphony orchestra and concert choir.

The symphony orchestra, under the direction of Sandra Justice, was treated to an enthusiastic standing ovation after their final selection. They presented a four-piece performance including music from The Nutcracker. Choir director Chris Harris called it the best performance by the orchestra in years.

The concert choir offered a variety of melodies that included "The Coventry Carol," which dates to the 15th or 16th century. A soulful rendition of "Run, Mary, Run" featured powerful solos from Jenna Rhodes, Jenna McMains and Leah Moon. They closed with "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

The carolers opened the evening with their traditional repertoire of songs.
