Owatonna boys and girls hockey plays Mankato East on Thursday and Mayo on Saturday. Steele County Blades preparing for Stick it to Cancer Night on January 22.

The OHS girls square off with East at 7:30PM on Thursday at All Seasons Arena in Mankato with the coverage on Kat Kountry 105. Owatonna (13-6 overall, 8-3 in the Big Nine) beat Mankato East (7-12-1, 4-8-1) to open the season in November 4-1. OHS hosts Rochester Mayo on Saturday at 7:30PM at Four Seasons in Owatonna. The Huskies beat Century on Saturday after losses to Austin and Farmington last week.

The Huskies are No. 16A in this week's Let's Play Hockey poll. Several other Section 1A teams are also ranked. Red Wing is 10th. Northfield is 18th. Faribault is 19th. The Wingers lead the Big Nine standings, with the Falcons a close second.

 

The Owatonna (6-7-1, 4-3) boys host Mankato East (9-6-1, 5-4-1) Thursday at 7PM in a 4-point Big Nine game. Saturday the Huskies travel to Rochester Mayo (8-7, 5-3) Saturday for a 7:30PM game. Spartans coach Lorne Grosso is retiring after this season after nearly 50 years leading the Mayo program.

Northfield leads the conference standings, with Rochester John Marshall close behind.

The Steele County Blades junior hockey team and Youth 1st of Owatonna will host its second annual Stick it to Cancer night on Friday, January 22. Various fundraising activities will raise money for the fight against cancer. It is also Federated Insurance night. The game begins at 7PM versus Forest Lake.
