The days are numbered on the regular season for winter high school sports. Girls hockey playoffs begin next week. Check out this week for the Huskies!

GIRLS HOCKEY

The Huskies host No. 11AA Dodge County on Tuesday night. A trip to Winona on Thursday and a home game with Faribault on Saturday close out the regular season. Section outlook: The Huskies are a likely No. 7 seed. A win over Dodge County could hurt the Wildcats in the standings, but is unlikely to move Owatonna High School up. Lakeville South and North play a big game this weekend to determine the No. 1 seed.

BOYS HOCKEY

Owatonna hosts Parents Night and Senior Night against Winona on Thursday. Saturday night, the Huskies go to Faribault. Section outlook: The Huskies face a huge make-up game with Century on Monday, Feb. 9. Owatonna has split with both Mayo and JM so far. Those four teams are fighting for the No. 4 seed and a home playoff game. Lakeville North, Farmington and Lakeville South are pretty solid for the top three spots.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

OHS hosts Mankato West on Tuesday. On Saturday, Big Nine-leading Rochester JM plays at OHS on Coaches Vs. Cancer night. Section outlook: The Huskies have split with Mayo and will attempt to do the same against Northfield. One of those three teams might get a home playoff game. Lakeville North probably has the inside track to the top seed over John Marshall due to the strength of schedule.

BOYS BASKETBALL

The Huskies play at Mankato West on Tuesday and play an afternoon game Saturday at John Marshall. Section outlook: Owatonna is 2-5 against section teams and will be on the road for the playoffs. Hastings, JM, Lakeville North, Mayo and Northfield all have similar records in the battle for top seeds.

WRESTLING

Albert Lea will win the Big Nine after the Tigers win at OHS on Saturday, but the teams could square off again this Friday at the Panther Duals at Lakeville North. Section outlook: OHS will be No. 3 behind Hastings and Farmington.

GYMNASTICS

OHS travels to top-10-ranked Austin on Tuesday. The Big Nine meet is Feb. 7 at Northfield.

BOYS SWIMMING

The Huskies will host Faribault on Thursday. The conference meet is Feb. 20-21.

ADAPTED FLOOR HOCKEY

The Huskies play at Burnsville/Farmington/Lakeville on Thursday. A Tuesday game was postponed.
