Owatonna's gymnastics team turned in a school-record performance of 149.8 to capture their third consecutive Section 1AA crown Friday night at Rochester John Marshall High School. The Huskies will compete at the state meet Friday, February 23 at the University of Minnesota's Sports Pavilion. OHS was third at state last year.

The Huskies averaged better than 37 points per event and ended with a strong effort on the balance beam. OHS placed three gymnasts among the top five in the all-around standings. Lindsay Bangs finished second. Becca Olson was fourth. Ali An was fifth. Owatonna also won the team academic championship.

OHS boys' basketball won its 14th straight game Friday night, 84-55 at Red Wing. Five Huskies reached double figures for the night. Alex Raichle had 15. Jason Williamson and Andrew Jackson scored 11 apiece. Dalton Kubista only had four points, but the first of those put him at 1,000 for his career. He became the seventh player in OHS boys' basketball history to reach that mark.

Owatonna plays a crucial Big Nine and section game at Rochester John Marshall Saturday night at 7:30PM on KRFO AM1390.

The Owatonna girls' basketball team had a solid second half, rallying for a 64-48 win over Red Wing, their tenth win in their last 11 games. OHS outscored the Wingers 41-21 after halftime. Sydney Schultz led the way with 17 points. Ahna Stelter scored 14.

NRHEG girls' basketball wrapped up the Gopher Conference title with a 68-27 throttling of United South Central Friday night. The Panther boys won Friday over USC 65-41 after taking the outright conference title earlier in the week. The school is selling conference championship t-shirts.

For the first time in 35 years, the state wrestling tournament will not include Apple Valley in the team event. The Eagles lost to Shakopee Friday 34-30 in the Section 2AA tournament.
