The Owatonna Curling Club has launched a new youth league for the 2016-17 season.

Now, if you're like me, you may have heard of curling, even seen it a little during the Winter Olympics, but don't have any real life experiences with it. Never fear, the Owatonna Curling Club is here to help you out. The Youth League is geared toward kids 10-17 years old, and anyone who is interested can participate. Practices just started this week, and this first season will be more about learning the game, not necessarily competing in the bonspiels, although that is a possibility.

This youth league is open to new members, and you don't have to live in Owatonna to join. All you need is a clean pair of shoes, a good attitude, and be willing to learn a new sport. The cost to join is minimal for the youth league, and it's open to anyone who has an interest.

Practices are generally from 3-5PM on weekdays, and there is some flexibility with the coach. If this is something you might be interested in, you can contact the coach, Jeremiah Kasten, at (507) 210-8005. Bring your friends and neighbors and learn something new. I enjoy watching my daughter at practice; she just keeps getting better.
