The OHS boys runners took second Tuesday at Austin while the girls were third. Owatonna's girls tennis team lost to No. 8AA Rochester Mayo 6-1.

The loss on the tennis court puts OHS at 4-1 in the Big Nine and 4-3 overall. Owatonna doesn't play again until September 13 when they host Faribault.

At Tuesday's cross country meet, Rochester Century won both races. Mankato West was second for the girls.

On Thursday's Owatonna sports schedule, the girls swimming team opens their season hosting Red Wing at 6PM at the junior high. The boys soccer team goes to Mankato to play West at Dakota Middle School at 5PM. The OHS girls host Mankato West at 7PM at the Lincoln Field. Owatonna's ninth-grade football team plays at Mankato West at 6PM.

The varsity football season opens Thursday for the Triton Cobras, who entertain Kasson-Mantorville at 7PM in Dodge Center. The game will be heard on KDHL AM 920.

On Friday, Owatonna hosts Mankato West at 7PM on KRFO AM 1390, Blooming Prairie travels to Rushford-Peterson on Kat Kountry 105FM, NRHEG hosts Mayer-Lutheran and Medford plays at Lewiston-Altura.
