The Huskies' boys soccer team scored twice in the first half to hand 1AA top-seed Lakeville North their first loss 2-0. The North girls beat OHS 2-0.

Daniel Keller scored 10 minutes into the match at North High School. Nate Smith scored with 11 minutes to go in the first half on an assist from his twin brother Nick. The Huskies advance to the Section 1AA final for the fifth straight year. They will go to Farmington on Tuesday. Owatonna has finished as the section runner-up the past two years after winning the 1AA crown in 2012 and 2013.

With Owatonna leading 2-0 at the half, Lakeville North put on some pressure early in the second half. North had several chances go just wide or over the cross bar. Later in the half, Ryley Glynn and Mitch Mayer blocked shots at close range. Goalkeeper Aidan Buryska made numerous saves. Nate Smith nearly added a goal on a breakaway with 25 minutes left.

The night didn't turn out as well for the Owatonna girls, who lost 2-0 to North in the early game. The Panthers scored with nine minutes left in the first half and added some insurance with 16:36 remaining in the second half. North also hit the pipe twice.

The season ends for Owatonna with the loss. Seniors on the team include Toria Koch, Page Cocchiarella, Megan Peglow, Callie McCauley, Ashley Green and Britta Gantert.

Elsewhere, the OHS volleyball swept Mankato East on Thursday 25-19, 25-19, 25-15.
