The ball diamond at Jaycee Park in Owatonna was dedicated Friday as Raymond Truelson Jr. Field, memorializing the longtime Owatonna public service figure.

Truelson spent two stints on the Owatonna City Council beginning in 1986. He also served on the planning commission, Owatonna Public Utilities board and as a Jaycee. He passed away in August 2014 at age 71.

The Owatonna Parks and Recreation Department and Owatonna's Youth 1st program hosted the dedication, followed by a U12AA baseball game.

Owatonna Aces Play in Weekend Tournament

The Owatonna Aces amateur baseball team went 1-2 at a weekend tournament in Arlington and Gaylord. The Aces lost to Mound 5-4 on Saturday. They rebounded to blank Elk River 8-0 behind a complete game pitching effort from Brandon Wolf. Sunday the Aces lost to Bird Island 8-4.

Owatonna hosts Kasson on Wednesday at 7:30PM at Fuller Field at Dartts Park. The Aces entertain Stewartville-Racine Friday at 7:30PM.

VFW / Legion Baseball

Owatonna's VFW squad got swept by Minnetonka in a Sunday doubleheader. Post 3723 plays at Northfield on Tuesday at 5PM and at Faribault on Thursday at 5PM.

The Post 77 Legion squad plays the Rochester A's on Tuesday at 5:30PM at Dartts Park in a doubleheader.
