A number of people take advantage of the after-Christmas sales going on now to start shopping for next year's presents. The same goes for holiday lights. Many are on sale now. Owatonna Public Utilities will offer their LED holiday light rebates through the end of this year. Simply bring in your receipt. If your receipt does not indicate that the lights are LEDs, then also bring in the package.

OPU will continue to offer free recycling of CFLs, but starting January 1 they will also offer free recycling of LEDs. Just bring them in.

With things whitening up, OPU reminds customers to watch for snow and or ice buildup on their gas meters. In the case of snow, simply brush it off. If ice should build up, you're encouraged to contact OPU and have one of their crew remove the ice. The regulator on your gas line into your house controls the right gas pressure in your home. If the regulator becomes covered in ice or snow it could cause the regulator to not function and then you might not have the proper pressure in your gas line in your home.
