Owatonna High School Wrestling had many reasons to celebrate after their 2013-14 season. Their season-ending banquet was held Monday night at OHS.

Coach Cliff Casteel said the season was

"a great success on many, many levels"

Highlights included:

  • Section 1AAA runner-up in the team tournament
  • 13 out of 14 placed in the top 6 in the section individual tournament
  • 8 qualified for the state tournament
  • 4 top five placers at state
  • Big Nine Champs (huge win AT Albert Lea again this season)
  • First place at the Federated Duals and the Mustang Duals (Mounds View)
  • 2 First Place finishers at the Rumble on the Red

In a very emotional aspect to the banquet, the seniors made a memorial presentation to the family of Evan Jacobson who would have been a senior this year. Jacobson died in 2009 at the age of 14 due to injuries sustained in a farm accident.
