Mixed martial arts makes an encore appearance at the Four Seasons Centre in Owatonna on Saturday, April 18. Last year's event attracted more than 2,000 spectators.

Owatonna High School graduate and former UFC fighter Travis Wiuff will again headline the O-Town Throwdown event. KRFO's Roy Koenig spoke with Wiuff about his preparations for the fight. He will face former workout partner Kevin Asplund. Wiuff wants to get his opponent on the ground to use his wrestling skills. Wiuff spoke of the challenges that face fighters looking to enter the ranks of MMA. Wiuff says he's been preparing for this bout for about six weeks. He hasn't had a fight since last October. He doesn't like to go that long between fights. But Wiuff also coaches with the Kasson-Mantorville High School wrestling team and doesn't want the disruption during that season.

The night will feature about 20 fights. A number of the fighters have local ties. Several are from Owatonna, including Richard Rodriquez, Ben Anderson, Danyelle Williams and David Sellner. Doors open at 5PM on Saturday, April 18, with the action beginning at 5:30PM. Tickets are available in advance through www.cagetix.com. Tickets also will be available at the door.
