It might be the heart of summer, but it's always a good time to talk hockey! Hear an interview with the new Steele County Blades coach, Nick Adamek.

The Steele County Blades hockey team has hired Nick Adamek as their new head coach for the upcoming season.  Adamek will be taking over the reins of the team immediately.  He comes to the Blades after a 3 year stint in Gillette, Wyoming where he was assistant coach of the Gillette Wild junior team of the America West Hockey League for the past three years.  He was also the head coach at Gillette High School where he lead his team to a state championship in 2012 and return appearances to the state tournament final the past two seasons.

A native of California, Adamek is not a complete stranger to Minnesota.  He was a coach with the Minnesota Mavericks Summer Hockey camps with former Express coach Pat Cullen in 2010.  He spent two years at the University of Wisconsin Stout where he had both head coach and assistant coaching responsibilities with the women’s hockey program.  And he also served three years as an assistant coach with the Hudson Crusaders junior team before moving to Gillette.

“I am very excited to get back to the Minnesota Junior Hockey League; a league where I started both my coaching and playing career in junior hockey. We have a great board here who has given me everything I need to make this a fun experience for all of our players and fans,” said Coach Adamek. “I fully expect to win a lot of games and promote players on to higher levels of hockey, whether that be collegiately or higher junior leagues.”  (read more)
