Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Rochester community activist has decided to join the First District Congressional race.

Announcing her candidacy Monday was Regina Mustafa, who serves on several public boards and committees, including the Olmsted County Human Rights Commission.

Mustafa has actively promoted interfaith dialogue and education. To spearhead her efforts she formed the nonprofit organization Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam in 2014.

Mustafa is married and the mother of two children.

She will seek the Democratic Party endorsement for the seat, which is up for election next year.

Current Congressman Tim Walz has decided not to seek another term.
